You are trying to install old version of the E-mail notifier plug-in.
Expressivo 1.4.4 already contains that plug-in so there is no need to install it separately.

Has SP3 for XP pro broken the installer or file access grant?

I did verify and the file is in that location, it has no special attributes that would prevent alteration.

I got the email, followed your instructions, sent off the files and the video. Hope this helps.

I forgot to add in the video that even though sound wasn't recorded, the expressivo voice was playing just fine in the pop up messages, the installer and when i typed into expressivo directly and let it play that back.

Thank you for the reply, I've only received an automatic notification that there was a reply to this topic on the forum in email, nothing else so far.

When I start Expressivo now a pop up tells me there is a new version available, do i want to download it, so i do but then when i close the program it crashes and on restarting it asks me again if i want to download the new version, on and on in a loop.

I have just downloaded the new version of expressivo as a demo from the main site and it behaves the same, crashes when i close, not allowing me to save any preferences.

The error report it generates after a crash is always the same, heres the important part of it.

Not sure what other information is in the error report so not really wanting to paste all that here in public but I'll pm it if the automatic submission of the error report isn't reaching you along with any details you need to verify I'm a legal owner of the program.

The problem you described is not typical. At the moment we don't have similar reports from any other user.

A new version of Expressivo has appeared today. I'll send you a link to download it.
Before installing latest version remove the previous one from the computer.

If it doesn't solve the problem - let me know, please.

What's new in this version?

I. New features

1. Select and read - this option allows reading of texts from virtually any selection
2. Integration with Word (a part of the Microsoft Office 2007)
3. Ignored expressions in the Pronunciation Editor - marked expressions will be omitted during the process of reading. The solution was inspired by plusz (one of Expressivo users)

II. Changes of functionality

1. Added the option to allow the switching off the clipboard monitoring
2. Added the option to allows Expressivo to dock (in the applet view) on the first plan. The solution was proposed by Marcin2 (one of Expressivo users)
3. A button allows to cancel synthesis in Speech to file configuration panel added. The solution proposed by Przewaks (one of Expressivo users)
4. Option allows to switch off an welcome screen (splash screen) added. The solution proposed by Przewaks (one of Expressivo users)

I bought this app a few days ago and found that it crashes constantly. I've emailed my error reports, emailed you through the contact us page and two days later not heard a thing.

I'd like to request a refund, the app is useless to me. I can make a video of it running and crashing over and over to prove it is useless. I run a pretty healthy modern PC with windows xp pro and a dual core setup with 2gb ram. There is no reason this shouldn't run on my machine.

I've tried to research the problem on my own from the error report but have come up blank.

Expressive crashes every time i try to close it too so any preferences, custom dictionary, any options at all are forgotten the moment it crashes on close. So I have to start everytime with those annoying popup messages and no chance to correct any words that aren't pronounced correctly. Expressive crashes also when im selecting voices, trying to set preferences, it is easily the most unstable tool I've ever used

It is nice to announce that new 1.4.3 version of Expressivo has appeared.

I. New features

1. Integration with mail clients:

- Outlook Express - standard mail client embedded in Windows 2000/2003/XP
- Windows Mail - standard mail client embedded in Windows Vista
- Microsoft Outlook 2003/2007 - mail client - part of the Microsoft Office package

2. Mail Notifier - improved version of the plugin now included in Expressivo.

3. "Precede content by file name" - a new feature in the "read to file" option which allows users to add the file name at the beginning of the synthesized text. The solution proposed by kruft (one of Expressivo users).

II. Changes of functionality

1. Renamed the "On-line resources" option located on the tray menu to "Global resources".

2. Added the "Read to file" button to the Expressivo's toolbox. The solution proposed by angrab (one of Expressivo users).

3. Changed the position of the "copy" function in the context menu. The solution proposed by Toldi (one of Expressivo users).

III. Fixed errors

1. Partitioning by paragraphs doesn't work when the text document is loaded using the "Read to file" window.

3. 100% CPU usage after disconnection from Expressivo's telnet.

It is nice to announce that new 1.4.2 version of Expressivo has appeared.

I. NEW FUNCTIONALITY

1. Integration with Skype.
2. User created regular expressions handling (according to POSIX standard). The solution proposed by Prymko (one of Expressivo users).

Entries must be placed directly in the Expressivo dictionary file.
Sample entry:

Without the above rule the sentence "We do offer some material in the following languages: Chinese/ Russian/ Arabic/ Portuguese and Spanish" will be read as "We do offer some material in the following languages: Chinese slash Russian slash Arabic slash Portuguese and Spanish". The above entry in the dictionary will transform this same sentence into:
"We do offer some material in the following languages: Chinese Russian Arabic Portuguese and Spanish".

II. CHANGES OF THE FUNCTIONALITY

1. Removed the "Advanced" entry from the settings panel - it's elements have been transferred to the main root of options.
2. User can now turn voice messages off in the installer.
3. A link to a page containing information about changes in the last version of the program has been added to the installer

III. FIXED ERRORS

1. Improper marking of the duration of the sound files generated by Expressivo.
2. Speed control slider doesn't affect on the plugins.
3. The "Read clipboard contents" function is not able to read the text after restarting the program.
4. Program doesn't save settings for a user who's account name contains characters other than the standard Latin alphabet.
5. The clipboard monitoring function causes sudden termination of the program when copying dates in the following format: yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss.
6. In the Romanian interface the Clock reads time only in English.
7. Voice announcements in Reminder don't work.
8. While adding a new voice to the already installed Expressivo free ebooks don't get copied to the hard disk.
9. Corrections in naming of options of the configuration panel (English interface).
10. Other, less important improvements of Expressivo components.
